TCS Participates in "Feed The Hunger"

The employees from TCS participated in an event called the "Pack-A-Thon" where over 200 people got together to support a worthy cause of packing meals for childrens relief in Haiti and Jamaica.

"Feed the Hunnger would like to thank and congratulate the participants of High Point, NC Pack-A-Thon for packing 100,008 servings of food that will be shipped to Haiti and Jamaica."

Michael Sechter, sales engineer at TCS, was written up by Doug Barney at Redmond Mag discussing the changes to the I.T. world with the onset of Cloud computing.

"With the advent of managed services and co-location and the datacenter, our staff needed to adjust their technical skills to become experts at virtual machines, hosting of applications such as Exchange, datacenter setup, Microsoft Services Provider License Agreement licensing, remote-management skills and customer interactions such as personal skills and telephone skills for help desk folks," says Michael Sechter, sales engineer for Total Computer Solutions.

Health Care and stimulus funds

Barry Utesch, president of Total Computer Solutions in Greensboro, said his company currently sees about 20 percent of its business from health care providers. He said that is likely to increase once stimulus money begins to flow, possibly sooner, since doctors who begin work now can still be eligible for stimulus money.

"Everything doctors can do to automate, it works to their advantage, just like every other business," Utesch said. "And the stimulus will be a good catalyst to get them to go further. We're continuously calling and sending our mailers out trying to grow that part of our business."

TCS has recently completed the necessary steps to achieve Microsoft Certified Status. Most of what is required for Certified partners status TCS had in place but we have recently completed the specific steps with Microsoft that have allowed us to use the Certified Partner logo.

Chris Barker, Operations Manager at TCS

Chris Barker joined Total Computer Solutions in 2007 as the Operations Manager after moving from Atlanta to be closer to family in Greensboro. Chris brings over seventeen years of assorted small business operations management experience to TCS. Prior to joining the team he spent seven years as the Director of Operations for Corporate Sports Unlimited, which is a Management Service Provider for the health and fitness industry. Chris was also the Director of Marketing for a sports entertainment company located in Atlanta. His operations management career began with five years of experience with First Union National Bank. Chris’ return to the triad brings him closer to his alma mater Wake Forest where he received his MBA in International Business. Chris and his wife Maria have two children Dillon and Isabella and are enjoying their return to Greensboro.

Jim Westmoreland, Network Technician, has been a wonderful addition to our staff. Jim has a concern for our clients' needs and a 'can do' attitude that makes him a great addition to our staff. He has been doing IT as a sideline for seven years and decided it was time to make IT a permnanent career.

Al Murray is also a new Network Technician. Al has eight years of IT experience with US Foodservices in South Caorlina. Al's personal demeanor and knowledge combined make him a great asset to our team.

Anne Pearson, another new Network Technician, has been working in IT for a little more than 8 years. She came to us from The City of Burlington. Anne has a warm, friendly presence and is always eager to help assist you with your computer needs.
