Malware / Virus Removal
TCS has extensive experience in Malware and Virus removal.
Malware and virus infection is a problem for most businesses. At TCS our first objective is to prevent infection, and we work diligently to try to achieve this. The black hats who write malicious code are also working constantly to try and circumvent the prevention techniques that we implement. It ends up being a never-ending process of leapfrog where somebody is ahead, and then the other catches up and passes only to repeat the process.
As with all security challenges, TCS recommends a multi-layered approach to preventing infection.
- Your first defense is installing a world-class Malware solution that deploys to all desktop and gets updated signatures multiple times every day.
- Second is to remove administrator privileges from your users so they can accidentally install malicious code.
- Third is to prevent the malware that gets installed accidentally from being able to communicate with the “host” or mother ship. This final step will not clear the problem, but it will prevent your sensitive information from being given to the criminals.
- Finally, you need to educate your users so that they are suspicious when presented with an option to “check on their UPS package” or “confirm your bank account information.” Unfortunately, the human element is the most difficult to control and when a user clicks on a link they are virtually inviting the malware in.
Many firms have solutions in place for their on-premise devices, but they fail to protect the devices that leave the premise and go home or travel. TCS recommends a solution that enables you to shield all devices regardless of their location. If the device is a company owned machine and it will at some point connect to the office via VPN or LAN, then there is the real possibility that when it connects to the network, if it is infected, it will pas that infections on to other devices on your system.
Often when a device is infected with a virus or malware the only way to be 100% certain that you have cleared the issue is to restore an OS from scratch. This can often be the fastest and most secure way to treat virus removal.
No security solution is 100% effective all of the time. That is why we recommend a layered approach that is appropriate for your budget and your risk tolerance.
